GAMING

The following information was sent by Cindy Mares on December 17, 2007 to Teen Program Contacts regarding hosting gaming programs:

  • Gaming Equipment:  There are four red gaming crates and one guitar hero case.

Red DDR Crate:           Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) gaming system

Red Crate #13911:       Xbox 360 gaming system

Red Crate #13913:       Nintendo Wii gaming system and Movietime projector

Red Crate #13914:       Nintendo Wii gaming system and Movietime projector

Guitar Hero Bag:          Two guitars

  • Gaming Calendar:  For your reference, we have included a gaming calendar in the small white binder inside the red DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) crate. It lists all scheduled programs for the current month. Please check this calendar right away, as you will typically need to courier the gaming equipment immediately to the next library on the calendar.

  • Movietime Projector:  If you plan on using the Xbox 360 and both Wii gaming systems, you will need to reserve the Movietime projector from Support Services through Room Reserve.  Allow plenty of time!  Other projectors are not compatible with the gaming systems. If you are sending the gaming equipment to another library, please also send the Movietime projector to that library (if that library has reserved it).  Since this projector does not belong to Programming, do not courier it inside a red gaming crate.  It will not be listed on the inventory sheets.

  • Inventory Sheets:  You will find inventory sheets in the white binder inside the red DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) crate. You are asked to complete an inventory sheet for each red gaming crate and the guitar hero bag at the conclusion of your program. Please note on your sheet if any pieces are missing or damaged. If there are missing pieces, please contact the library who used the equipment before you. Do not call Programming, as we will not have this information.  Three-hole punch and store the completed inventory sheets behind the tab marked completed sheets for the next library to refer to. Please do not hesitate to put the equipment in the courier, as we are on a very tight schedule!

  • Gamefly Games:  When games become available, they will be shipped via inter- office envelope to the next library with a scheduled gaming program.   The envelope will also include pdf instructions on how to play the game.  You are responsible for sending the game and instructions (inside an envelope) to the next library on the calendar, or back to Programming. Check the date on the plastic case to see when the game needs to be returned to Programming.  We will keep the games for approximately three weeks and then exchange them for something new. Please do not put games inside the red crates.

Games are rented through Gamefly. Programming is the subscriber and can download complete pdf instructions and information on games we rent. You, as a non-subscriber can obtain fairly extensive background information about games.  This information can be found on their website.  Here is an example from Super Mario Galaxy:

In the bottom right corner, you get a game description along with tabs for FAQs, Instructions, Reviews, etc.  There are even some game screenshots and videos.  If you see a game you would like to use in the future, please inform Cindy or Catherine, and we will add it to the list.  We are not able to specify when we receive a particular game – they are sent as they become available.

  • Shipping:  For the red crates, the courier labels for the next library will be under your library’s label in the clear plastic sleeve.  The guitar hero bag has laminated courier cards inside the small outside zipper pocket.  Use a paper clip to attach the courier card for the next library. Please do not discard these – store them in the outside zipper pocket.  If you cannot locate the shipping label/card for the next library, please create one for each piece of equipment being shipped.  The gaming contact for each library is the teen contact. It would be very helpful if you emailed the teen contact to let them know the equipment is on the way.
